The Mermaid’s Daughter by Ann Claycomb

If you love the Little Mermaid then this is a good story for you! This book is a retelling of a mix between the Disney movie and the original, darker Hans Christian Anderson tale. Although I do think that it didn’t differ much from the actual stories. I haven’t read the original Anderson tale but from what I gather it seemed pretty close. I love anything mermaid so I think that is part of the reason I liked this book. This book also had a performing arts/Opera aspect to it, which I also love. Like I said this book felt like it was re-stating the original stories. Because I knew the story, I knew what was coming in the book. These characters were interesting to read about but I didn’t really feel connected to them. I was reading about their story not in it with them. I also didn’t get emotional while reading until the very end. All in all I enjoyed this book but I’m ready to start reading the next thing. Definitely read it if you are interested though!

I’m just going to be honest with you guys and tell you I forgot to write down notes on this one…. I’M SORRY DON’T DROWN ME!  ( 😉 see what I did there?)
