Summer 18 Biannual Bibliothon Day 2

I’m back again with another update!

So apparently kayaking yesterday took a lot out of me because I planned to only sleep for a few hours last night then get back to reading. I set an alarm and don’t even remember turning it off last night!

Therefore I woke up around 8:30 and totally freaked out because I remember making plans to wake up way earlier. So when I finally fully woke up I jumped right into Someone Else’s Summer by Rachel Bateman to try and make up for lost reading time.

I actually finished Someone Else’s Summer this morning and I still need to write my review, which should be up sometime soon. It was an okay read, definitely not what I was expecting.

So after I finished SES I read a few chapters of The Once and Future King by T.H. White. Like I said in my update yesterday, this book is HUGE so I’m taking things slow and stretching it out over the week.

To be honest I don’t know if I will be able to finish it this week I’m only on page 155 out of 677. The words are so tiny and some of the words are in old english or latin, so it makes it hard to read sometimes.

I also started Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. I have seen season 1 of Anne with an E on Netflix and now that season 2 is out I thought I would read the book before continuing with the series.

I am on chapter 8 of 38 but they are relatively short chapters. I’m not having a hard time getting through this book like I usually would reading a classic.

I don’t know why but for some reason I seem to struggle while reading classics, which is a shame because I really want to get to know the original stories from which all the movies/spin offs/ references stem from.

It’s not like I haven’t tried I own a whole shelf full of classic novels and can only seem to stomach them every once and a while. I have found though that it helps me to read a classic and enjoy it more if I have seen the movie beforehand.

With Pride and Prejudice and Manisfield Park by Jane Austen I had no trouble getting through those books because I had watched their movies first. I got through War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells without watching the movie first which was a miracle! I have also tried starting Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte but I can’t seem to push myself through that one.

Anyway let me know how you are doing if you are participating in the Biannual Bibliothon! Or just let me know what you think in general! I’m happy to chat. 🙂
